A flowering 'Empress of India' variety of the Tropaeolum majus species of nasturtium. Named after Queen Victoria, the scarlet flowers with blue-green foliage were thought to represent the rich, imperial colours. As with the flowers, the foliage is edible, possessing a more intense peppery flavour compared to other nasturtium leaves.
