A 5-tube table radio with six tuned circuits designed for standard
broadcast reception, it features a compact plastic cabinet, a Permanent
Magnet Dynamic Loudspeaker (moving coil), and a chassis numbered 5B4,
a standard configuration used in this series.
This model was produced in a red moulded case with white grille. Model
244 was in pink and white, and Model 248 in turquoise and white. The
pricing and aesthetic variety were typical for Admiral's approach
to appealing to the growing consumer market of the late 1950s. Pink/white
was selling for U$21.95 in 1959.
