| Standing between Red Square and Manege Square, the State Historical Museum houses one of Russia's largest collections, tracing the country's history from prehistoric times to the early twentieth century. Opened to the public in 1883, the museum occupies a Russian Revival building designed by architect Vladimir Sherwood and engineer Anatoly Semyonov. |
