Fountain adorned with ceramic plates
Photograph by MCN, 2004

A decorative fountain set into an ornately carved stone niche features a mosaic background made of colourful ceramic plates, framed by carved stonework that includes cherubs and Baroque detailing, and reflects the Churrigueresque architectural style typical of colonial Mexico. From the Antigua Hacienda de Tlalpan, a historic estate located in Mexico City and built in the 1800s. It was originally owned by Manuel del Refugio González Flores, a prominent military and political figure connected to significant events in Mexican history. It now functions as a restaurant.
