| The Victoria crowned pigeon, Goura victoria, inhabits the lowland forests of northern New Guinea and ranks among the largest pigeon species. Its crest, tipped with white, along with its blue-grey plumage and red eyes, gives it a distinctly regal bearing, named in honour of Queen Victoria. Despite its impressive appearance, it remains a ground-dwelling bird, foraging for fallen fruit and seeds.. |
