Red foxes (Vulpes vulpes) are adaptable animals found throughout the
state of Alaska, from the forests and tundra of the interior to the
coastal regions. There, they play a significant role in the ecosystem
as predators of small mammals, birds, and insects. They have a wide
range of habitats they can inhabit, from urban areas to remote wilderness.
The red fox is known for its distinctive reddish-orange fur, though
its colouration can vary depending on the region and the time of year.
In Alaska, red foxes may face challenges such as habitat loss due
to human development, competition with other predators like coyotes,
and diseases. However, they are generally considered to be a common
and widespread species in most of the state.
