Dacelo leachii is a
large species of kingfisher, recognisable by its hefty bill,
light-coloured head, and distinct blue feathers on its wings. Native
to northern Australia and southern New Guinea, this species engages
in cooperative breeding, in which a primary pair is supported by one
or more 'helpers'—typically young from earlier broods—who assist in
raising the next generation. |
