| From the Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa, a sanctuary for over 600 elephants, with diverse landscapes ranging from dense thicket to open savanna, supporting vital wildlife conservation efforts in the region. The African elephant (Loxodonta africana), is the largest land mammal on Earth and is renowned for its majestic presence and remarkable intelligence. These gentle giants are characterised by their distinctive large ears, elongated trunk, and massive tusks, which are actually specialized incisor teeth used for various tasks such as digging, foraging, and defence. African elephants are highly social animals, living in cohesive herds led by a matriarch, typically consisting of related females and their offspring. |
