Camels are well-adapted to harsh desert environments, able to survive for days without water by storing fat in their humps, which is converted into water and energy when needed. Contrary to popular belief, camels don’t store water in their humps, but their ability to drink large amounts at once (up to 40 gallons) allows them to rehydrate quickly. Their thick fur helps regulate body temperature, keeping them cool during the day and warm at night. Camels also have three sets of eyelids and two rows of eyelashes to protect their eyes from sand. Additionally, their feet are well-suited for walking on sand, with wide, flat pads that prevent them from sinking.
