Rhyticeros undulatus
are native to South and Southeast Asia, where they live in tropical
and subtropical forests, spending most of their time high in the
forest canopy. They feed mainly on fruit, especially figs, along
with insects and small animals when available. The ridged bands on
its casque develop progressively with age, so older individuals show
more pronounced wavy grooves on the bill. This feature is
distinctive to the species and gives it its name. |
