Nardi, Sangallini

The family originated in San Felice a Ema, and some of its members transferred to the city of Florence in the beginning of the fourteenth century.[3] According to Ugolino Verini in his De illustratione urbis Florentiae, the Nardi family hailed from Arcetri. They were apparently a branch of the Bostichi family. The surname probably derived from the name of the family's ancestor Nardo di Buoninsegna. Originally, they claimed descent from the Marquis Anardo, a relative of the Emperor Otto III, whose descendants held important posts in Florence.[1]  Florence.[1]
