Nardi, Sangallini

The family originated in San Felice a Ema, and some of its members transferred to the city of Florence in the beginning of the fourteenth century. According to Ugolino Verini in his De illustratione urbis Florentiae, the Nardi family hailed from Arcetri. They were apparently a branch of the Bostichi family. The surname probably derived from the name of the family's ancestor Nardo di Buoninsegna. Originally, they claimed descent from the Marquis Anardo, a relative of the Emperor Otto III, whose descendants held important posts in Florence.   Florence.
