Antiochus
Oil on canvas, by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, 1800.

Antiochus, on being informed that Scipio is lying ill at Helle, returns to him his son that had been taken hostage, so that joy might cure him. Ingres won second prize for this painting at the Grand Prix de Rome in 1800. It was in the art collection of Edouard Gatteaux when it was destroyed by a fire in 1871.
