Grand Masters of the Knights Templar
The Grand Master of the Knights Templar was the supreme commander
of the order who was elected by the chapter general, the governing
body of the order. He had absolute authority over all aspects
of the order, including its finances, military operations,
and religious practices. He was also the official representative
of the order to the Pope and other Christian rulers. No definitive
list of the Grand Masters exists, but generally, it is considered
that there were twenty-three men who were nominated to the
position.
