Notes
1. The works numbered 7, 8 and 9 on this list
were published together in 1851 in one volume entitled Geological
Observations on Coral Reefs, Volcanic Islands, and on South
America.
2. This is an extract included with a presentation made by Lyell
and Hooker for the Linnean Society of London in 1858 entitled
'On the Tendency of Species to Form Varieties; and on the Natural
Perpetuation of Varieties and Species by Means of Natural Selection'.
3. For the 6th edition published in 1872, the word 'On' was
dropped from the title.
4. This was included in the No. 7, July 1877 issue of Mind
(A Quarterly Review of Psychology and Philosophy).
