The Armento Rider
Also known as the Rider (or Horseman) of Grumentum.
Western Greek bronze-work, c. 560-550 BC, height 25.4 cm high, length 26.67 cm, British Museum.

Probably imported by Corinthian colonists into Southern Italy, it was previously stated to have been excavated in Grumentum, Basilicata, but the location was more likely Armento. The soldier, wearing a Corinthian-style helmet, and the horse are both separately modelled and detachable.
