The figure painted on this kovsh is after the lost 1913 painting,
The Boyar, by Konstantin Makovskii. The piece is decorated in the
Russian revival style, with blossoms and geometric designs, ad
the spirals and dots in wire filigree are in the manner of Russian
artist Fedor Ivanovich Rückert (1840–1917).
