Pair of earrings
Gold, diamonds, pearls; 4.7 x 5.5 cm, anonymous, c. 1750
Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam
Earrings made in Surat,
designed in the form of a rosette, adorned with red and green gemstones,
delicate diamond fragments, and encircled by a row of pearls. Dangling
beneath the rosette is a gold bell in the shape of a bell. Additionally,
a smaller version of the same motif, called murki, is intricately
crafted on the side of the rosette, adding to its exquisite detailing.
